Compact-outside-diameter constructions to EN 857 1SC or 2SC, and small-bend-radius types such as SAE 100R17, exist specifically for this routing.
Reduced lift performance and rough operation are commonly a fluid loss symptom rather than a pump problem. In material handling a leak shows up as lost load-lift capacity first. Check the joints in the lift and tilt circuits before assuming a major component has failed.
Two separate things, and they are often confused. Load-holding in the tilt and lift circuits is done by check valves, typically pilot-operated. Protection against a sudden line failure is done by a velocity fuse fitted in the lift cylinder. Both are safety-relevant, so neither is a place to improvise on specification.
O-ring sealed families rather than tapered metal-to-metal. O-ring face seal to ISO 8434-3 and the 24 degree cone with O-ring to ISO 8434-1 seal on an elastomer rather than on thread interference, which is what you want where a weep becomes a slip hazard and an audit finding.

DIN 20066 practice is the usual reference: assemblies not beyond six years in service from date of manufacture, with bulk hose no more than four years old at the time of assembly.
No. JIC to SAE J514 and ORB to SAE J1926 share the same UN/UNF thread form but seal completely differently. JIC seals on a 37° metal cone; ORB seals on an O-ring compressed against a machined boss face. Assembling one into the other will not seal reliably and can damage the port.
