Repeated pressure spikes fatigue a hose even when its burst rating is comfortably adequate. A hose can pass a burst test and still fail on impulse cycles, which is why four-spiral construction exists.
BSP and NPT share the same 1:16 taper but different thread form angles, 55° against 60°. In many common sizes they screw together and look correct, then leak under pressure. BSPP seals on a bonded washer against the port face, not on the threads.
Assemblies built from one maker's hose and another maker's ferrule and fitting compromise coupling retention. Major manufacturers restrict their crimp data to their own combinations and disclaim liability otherwise.
Near moulds, curing presses and furnaces the binding constraint is temperature and fluid, not working pressure. Using an oil hydraulic hose where a steam or hot-water hose is required is a defined mis-specification, not a shortcut.

ISO 4406 codes fluid cleanliness as three numbers, the particle counts per millilitre at 4 micrometres and above, 6 and above, and 14 and above. It matters more in stationary hydraulics than on mobile equipment because the components damaged by the smallest particles, proportional and servo valves, are usually the most expensive parts on the machine.
O-ring sealed families rather than tapered metal-to-metal ones. O-ring face seal to ISO 8434-3, which is based on SAE J1453, and the 24 degree cone with O-ring to ISO 8434-1 both seal on an elastomer rather than on thread interference. Tapered NPT or BSPT joints in a vibrating circuit are a chronic weep source.
By impulse grade, not by burst pressure. ISO 18752 defines grades A to D by impulse cycles at a stated temperature and impulse pressure, with grade D requiring over one million cycles at 120 degrees Celsius at 133% of maximum working pressure. That is the honest way to specify a press or moulding machine circuit.
Not where the service is steam or hot water. That is a separate hose family with its own standard, EN ISO 6134, and its own tube elastomer. Using an oil hydraulic hose in that duty is a mis-specification. Tell us the ambient and fluid temperature and we will confirm which family applies, or tell you if we do not supply for it.

No. JIC to SAE J514 and ORB to SAE J1926 share the same UN/UNF thread form but seal completely differently. JIC seals on a 37° metal cone; ORB seals on an O-ring compressed against a machined boss face. Assembling one into the other will not seal reliably and can damage the port.
Yes, this is one of the most common requests we get. Imported machines bring BSP, metric 24 degree cone, JIC, ORB and NPT into the same shed. Adapters and reducers across those families are a core part of what we supply. Send the port standard on both sides and the pressure rating.
Where a plant runs a formal maintenance system, DIN 20066 practice is the usual reference: bulk hose no more than four years old at assembly, and assemblies not in service beyond six years from date of manufacture, of which storage should not exceed two years. Condition-based replacement should override that where the duty is severe.
