We supply non-critical hydraulic circuits, power units and field service equipment. We do not supply wellhead, BOP, subsea or process-critical well-control equipment, and we would rather say that on the first page than at the quotation stage.

None of these are random. Each has a mechanism, and each has a standard that tells you how to specify against it.

Documentation you cannot produce afterwards

Oilfield procurement asks for material certificates, test reports and traceability far more than other sectors. For anything touching sour service, buyers require explicit material specifications, heat-treatment records, hardness results and impact data.

Specify against it: Ask for the documentation basis at enquiry, not at delivery. Where a requirement calls for sour-service or well-control qualification, that is outside our scope and we will say so.

Assemblies tested at maximum rated working pressure

After rigging up a workover unit, all hoses, fittings and connections are tested to the unit's maximum rated working pressure. That test is the practical bar every component has to clear.

Specify against it: Specify the construction class and end connections against the unit's rated working pressure, and keep hose, ferrule and fitting from one matched series so retention is not the weak link.

External abrasion

Hose rubbing on hose, on structure, and on the ground. Once the cover is breached the reinforcement corrodes and burst follows, usually well before the assembly's rated life.

Specify against it: Cover abrasion resistance is measured to ISO 6945. Routing, clamping and abrasion protection are covered by SAE J1273.

Temperature range, stated per hose

Cold-start stiffness in winter fields and high ambient in desert fields are opposite problems and cannot be answered by one generic hose. Temperature rating is a per-product property, not a category one.

Specify against it: State minimum and maximum ambient temperature and the fluid in your enquiry, and expect a per-hose answer rather than a blanket one.

Contamination ingress

Every hose change in the field is an ingress event. Particles at 4 µm and above attack proportional and servo elements; 6 µm and above accelerates pump and cylinder wear.

Specify against it: ISO 4406 codes cleanliness at ≥4, ≥6 and ≥14 µm. Cap and plug on the bench, and fit isolation ball valves so a hose can be changed without draining.

Thread family mismatch

BSP and NPT share the same 1:16 taper but different thread form angles, 55° against 60°. In many common sizes they screw together and look correct, then leak under pressure. BSPP seals on a bonded washer against the port face, not on the threads.

Specify against it: Identify the port family before ordering. A JIC 37° cone must never go into an SAE J1926 ORB port, they share a thread form but seal completely differently.

What oilfield equipment does Velqor supply for, and what does it not?

We supply hydraulic valves, fittings and hose pipes for non-critical hydraulic circuits, hydraulic power units and field service and support equipment. We do not supply wellhead, blowout preventer, subsea or process-critical well-control equipment. We would rather state that plainly up front than discover it at quotation stage, and if your requirement falls on the other side of that line we will tell you and, where we can, point you toward a more suitable route.

Does hydraulic hose need NACE MR0175 or ISO 15156 certification?

Only where the component is in sour service. Those standards carry material specification, heat-treatment, hardness and impact-test documentation obligations, and buyers in that space rightly demand explicit proof rather than a general assurance. We do not make a sour-service qualification claim, so if your requirement is sour service, our answer is that this is outside our scope.

What hose is used on a hydraulic power unit pressure leg?

It depends on the unit's rated working pressure and duty. Braid to EN 853 2SN covers many general service units; spiral to EN 856 4SP or 4SH is used where pressure or impulse duty is higher. What decides it in practice is that after rig-up all hoses, fittings and connections are tested to the unit's maximum rated working pressure, so the whole assembly has to clear that bar.

Can you supply the valves for a power pack build?

A power unit is essentially valves, fittings and hose, which makes it the closest fit to our full range of anything in this sector. Relief valves, directional control valves, check valves, needle valves for gauge isolation and ball valves for service isolation are all within what we supply. Send the flow rate, working pressure, port standards and configuration and we will confirm what we can hold.

Which quick couplings suit field service equipment?

Equipment that is connected and disconnected constantly in a sandy or muddy environment puts contamination control ahead of almost everything else, which is why flush-face coupling designs are favoured in that duty. Tell us the coupling standard your existing equipment uses and the working pressure, and we will confirm what we can supply against it.

How do I tell a BSP fitting from an NPT fitting?

Both are tapered at the same 1:16 rate, but the thread form angle differs, 55° for BSP and 60° for NPT. In several common sizes they will screw together and appear correct, then weep under pressure because contact is incomplete. BSPP, by contrast, is a parallel thread that seals on a bonded seal against the port face, so without that washer it will not seal at any torque.

Can I put a JIC fitting into an ORB port?

No. JIC to SAE J514 and ORB to SAE J1926 share the same UN/UNF thread form but seal completely differently. JIC seals on a 37° metal cone; ORB seals on an O-ring compressed against a machined boss face. Assembling one into the other will not seal reliably and can damage the port.

How should I state temperature requirements in an enquiry?

Give the minimum and maximum ambient temperature and the fluid. Cold-start stiffness in a winter field and high ambient in a desert field are opposite problems and no single generic hose answers both. Temperature rating is a per-product property, so expect a per-product answer rather than a category one.

Can Velqor supply against a drawing or a sample?

Yes, and that is the normal route. Share a drawing, a specification or a sample and we confirm dimensions, material, thread standard and pressure rating in writing before production. Where a requirement is beyond what we can reliably hold, we say so at that point rather than after the order.

What if the part I need is not something you supply?
